FP – First Post.
A nomenclature commentors on slashdot usually use when they get to be the first commentor on any article. I thought it’d be apt to use it as the title for the first post on the newly revived alphaque.com. Syok sendiri !
Starting a blog or a website (I still insist blogs are nothing more than personal websites) this time around was much easier than in 1996. Then I had to read through PHP-Nuke code and heavily modify it for both layout and functionality. See what alphaque.com looked like on June 5, 2002 !
This time, it’s all WordPress. Set up was so much faster, and adding a theme completed it. Even so, I still had some code modification to do to make sure the featured slider (that funky thing above) displayed a mix of WP pages and posts from a particular category according to the way I wanted it. It’s more or less there, but I would be tweaking it bit by bit over the next few days to get it down pat.
I’ve also added links to FaceBook and Twitter at the bottom of each post, so it would be easy for readers (or me !) to share something on either of the two social media services. You’d also be able to see my tweetstream in conversations with twits I follow on the right sidebar. Join in that conversation, if you will.
All in all though, the design principle is to KISS aka keeping it simple, stupid. Too much fluff, gadgets and widgets would confuse without adding much incremental value. So these are going to be kept to a minimum, and only when necessary.
It’s going to be all about the content, and I’d be calling it as I see it. Agree or disagree, do engage with comments or corrections. Be mindful though that defamatory and downright inane comments will not see the light of day, but if you’ve got something to say, say it.
Now, let it roll !
This post was brought to you by a few chilled Tiger Draughts and a couple of shots of 12 year old Macallan Fine Oak.

I cannot believe you’re blogging again! Maybe meesh.net/the meesh experience deserves a revival too.
